Free diagnostic assessment aligned with curricula taught in Dubai schools. About 10 minutes — get a topic-by-topic analysis of your child's maths skills.
A learning gaps assessment is a short diagnostic quiz that identifies a student's strengths and weaknesses across key topic areas within a subject. Unlike a school exam, it is designed to pinpoint specific misconceptions — not just whether an answer is right or wrong, but why a student may be struggling. GetYourTutors' free maths assessment covers all core topic areas in your child's year-specific maths curriculum (Year 1 through Year 10) and provides an instant, detailed Learning Profile.
Select Year 1 through Year 10 to get questions matched to your child's KS1, KS2, KS3 or GCSE Foundation curriculum.
Each year's quiz covers all the core topic areas in that year's curriculum, with progressive difficulty. Every wrong answer maps to a specific misconception for diagnostic insight.
Receive an instant breakdown showing strengths and gaps by topic, with personalised recommendations for improvement.
A diagnostic assessment is most valuable when you use the results to guide what happens next. Here is a practical approach:
Start with what your child is doing well. Topic areas marked "Strong" show solid understanding. Acknowledge this — it builds confidence and motivation for tackling weaker areas.
Do not try to fix everything at once. If two topics scored below 60%, pick the one that is most foundational (for example, Number skills underpin Algebra). Spend 2–3 weeks of focused practice there before moving to the next topic.
The detailed results show not just what was wrong, but why. If your child's wrong answer reveals they are "confusing area with perimeter," that is a specific, fixable misconception. A tutor or parent who knows the exact misconception can address it far more efficiently than general revision.
After focused practice on weak areas, retake the assessment to measure progress. Most students see meaningful improvement within one month of targeted work. If gaps persist, that is a strong signal that professional tutoring support could help.
Everything you need to know about our private tutoring services in Dubai.
You select your child's year (Year 1 through Year 10) and answer all the questions for that year's curriculum — each year covers between 18 and 27 multiple-choice questions across 6 to 9 topic areas, with progressive difficulty. Each question tests a specific skill, and each wrong answer maps to a known misconception. Your results show a topic-by-topic breakdown so you can see exactly where strengths and gaps lie.
The assessment currently covers Mathematics from Year 1 through Year 10, organised by Primary (Years 1-6 / KS1-KS2), Mid (Years 7-9 / KS3) and Secondary (Year 10 / GCSE Foundation). English and Science assessments are planned for future release. Year 11+ students preparing for GCSE, A-Level or IB DP exams can find dedicated tutoring support via our /gcse-tutors-dubai/, /a-level-tutors-dubai/ and /ib-tutors-dubai/dp-tutors/maths/ pages.
Yes. The questions are designed to align with the British Curriculum (Key Stages 1-4), with topics also matching closely to Cambridge IGCSE Foundation and Edexcel GCSE Foundation specifications. The questions also approximate-map to American Common Core, IB PYP/MYP, CBSE, and UAE National (MoE) curricula by age — our Curriculum Equivalency Matrix tool gives the matching year level or the placement rule that applies.
The assessment takes approximately 10-15 minutes depending on the year selected. Each year's quiz contains 18-27 questions presented one at a time, with no time limit on individual questions.
The check marks your child's answers in your browser. It doesn't ask for your email, and it doesn't send your child's answers or results through any form on our site. When the report appears, the page's web address holds your child's answers in code, with no name. Like any web address, it reaches our website when it is loaded, for example if you reload the page or someone opens a link you sent. Anyone with the link can open the report. See our privacy policy for how we handle details you send us, such as a callback request.
A low score in a topic area is not a cause for alarm — it simply identifies where focused practice would be most beneficial. The detailed results show exactly which concepts need attention. A structured tutoring plan targeting those specific areas can make a significant difference. GetYourTutors offers free consultations to discuss assessment results and recommend a personalised approach.
