The KHDA Parent-School Contract:
What You Need to Know

Most parents just click "Accept" in the app. But this contract controls your money, your refunds, and your child's seat. Here is the fine print you missed.

⚠️

No Contract = No Seat

Since 2021, the contract is fully digital (via the KHDA App or UAE Pass). Until you sign it, your child is technically not registered. This means they cannot be issued a Transfer Certificate (TC) or a Report Card at the end of the year.

1. The "Money" Clause: Refund Policy

This is the section parents usually skip, but panic about later. If you need to withdraw your child mid-year (due to job loss or moving), the school is legally entitled to keep the following amounts:

Withdrawal Timing Amount Deducted by School Refund to Parent
Before Term Starts Registration Fee (up to 10% of fees). 100% of Tuition Fees paid.
Within 2 Weeks (of term start) 1 Month of Tuition Fees. Balance of Term Fees.
2 Weeks - 1 Month (of term start) 2 Months of Tuition Fees. Balance of Term Fees.
After 1 Month Full Term Fees. ZERO Refund for that term.

2. The "Behavior" Clause (It's not just for kids)

The contract gives schools the right to expel students, but it also includes a section on Parental Behavior.

Zero Tolerance: Cyberbullying

Parents found bullying teachers or spreading rumors about the school on WhatsApp groups or social media can be found in breach of contract. This can lead to the school refusing to re-enroll your child for the next year.

Attendance

If a student's attendance drops below 98% (without valid medical certificates), the school may refuse promotion to the next grade. Vacations during term time are rarely authorized.

3. Fee Increases

The contract "locks in" the fees for the academic year. However, schools can increase fees for the next year based on their KHDA Rating and the ECI (Education Cost Index). By signing, you acknowledge that fees are subject to change annually based on government approval.

Why This Matters to You

If your child is struggling academically or behaviorally, you are at risk of breaching the contract (specifically the promotion criteria). Don't wait until the "Warning Letter" arrives.

Struggling with School?

If your child is at risk of behavioral suspension or academic failure, intervention is key. A private mentor can help get them back on track.
