CAT4 Quantitative Reasoning: How to Improve Your Child’s Potential Score
The Potential Test

CAT4 Quantitative:
Improve Your Score

Dubai schools use the CAT4 "Quantitative" score to decide if your child belongs in the Top Set for Math. It's not about what they know—it's about how they think.

💡

The "IQ" Myth

Parents are often told: "You can't study for CAT4." This is only half true. You cannot memorize answers, but you can learn the logic patterns. Most children score low in Quantitative Reasoning not because they are "bad at math," but because they have never seen a "Number Analogy" before and panic under the time limit.

The Two Question Types You Must Know

The Quantitative battery is split into two specific formats. Mastering these is the key to a higher SAS score.

Format Example Logic The Skill Needed
Number Analogies [1 → 3] : [4 → 12] : [5 → ?]
(Answer: 15, because the rule is x3)
Identifying the relationship between pairs. Is it +2? x3? -1?
Number Series 2, 4, 8, 16, ?
(Answer: 32, because the rule is x2)
Predicting the next step in a sequence. Requires identifying patterns quickly.

How to Improve (Without Cheating)

We do not "teach to the test," but we do "familiarize." Here is how we boost scores in 6 weeks:

1. Mental Math Speed

The CAT4 is strictly timed. Children who rely on finger counting will fail to finish the paper. We drill Number Bonds and Times Tables so they can spot that "8 is 2 cubed" instantly.

2. Recognizing "Square" Numbers

A secret of CAT4: They love Square Numbers (4, 9, 16, 25) and Cube Numbers. If a child recognizes these special numbers instantly, they can solve Number Series questions in seconds.

Why It Matters

Schools use the Quantitative SAS score to Stream students. A high score (115+) is often the ticket to the "Top Set" in Math for secondary school. A low score might result in being placed in a lower support set, even if their class grades are okay.

Don't Let Them Panic

Our CAT4 Familiarization module teaches the logic patterns so your child walks into the exam room feeling confident, not confused.
